St. Lucy of Syracuse, virgin and martyr, is often associated with light. St. Lucy was known for her example of charity and service to the poor. Some traditions hold that she would carry candles in a band around her head in order to have her arms free to distribute food. Her feast day is December 13.

St. Lucy, pray for us!
